Baby Channing from Monday’s shoot. So sweet and peaceful.
Sweet sweet Baby Channing…
Isn’t he delectable hanging out in that hollowed out log? Channing is the uncle to Baby Forrest. You see, mother and daughter have sweet little ones at the same time! Isn’t that amazing and wonderful? To share in this journey together? Amazing! I’m sure that the boys, uncle and nephew will grow up so close…like brothers.
Mom to Baby Channing is Amy Reynolds. We met years ago through the La Leche League, a breastfeeding support group, here in Ocala. Amy was our leader as well as a doula. Not long after we met, she announced that she would study to be a midwife. I couldn’t think of a more perfect woman to dedicate her life to bringing babies into this world. Amy now owns and operates the Ocala Birth Center. I am so proud of her and what she has accomplished. If you’re newly pregnant and are seeking a more natural pregnancy & birth, I HIGHLY recommend Amy.
*Trivia: I made the log prop! My husband likes to cut down trees. A LOT of trees! You should see him when he has his chainsaw in hand. He LOVES it! In all fairness, he doesn’t cut them down for the fun of it. He would rather be in control of felling the trees rather than having them topple on their own unexpectedly. Smart guy! Back to my prop story…we use a lot of the wood from the felled trees for our wood stove, so one would see logs/ slices laying about at any given time. I saw this one laying on the ground and was instantly inspired. You see, when you photography babies, you have this thought of “Can I put a baby in it?” running through your head almost all of the time! Seriously! Forget walking through Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, antique malls! All of those baskets and containers… My head is spinning! Where was I? This particular slice was rotten in the center, so most of it was hollowed out. My sweet husband refined the edges. Not too much though. I like the roughness of what the chainsaw created. I then finished it will several coats of poly…top, bottom, inside and out. That’s the story of how a log became a prop!
