Frequently Asked Questions
Such a great question! And it’s probably my most-asked question! Rest assured that we’ll have an in-depth conversation about your wardrobe prior to your session at your in-home Concept & Style Consultation. It’s so important that your selections reflect you. That said, it can be good (and fun) to think outside of the box!
We first take a look at why you’re having your photo taken. Portraits just for you? Headshots for business? A collection of Personal Branding images? Identifying your needs and desires will help dictate your wardrobe selections.
Business looks require an examination of your branding. We need to build a session around how you want to be seen.
For legacy portraits, we can choose a range of styles from very casual jeans to sparkly gowns.
We have a couple of ways to curate your looks. At your in-home Concept & Style Consultation, I want to take a big item off of your to-do list. We’ll take the time to make wardrobe selections…from your closet! Believe it or not, you probably have everything you need. It can be fun for you to see your wardrobe through someone else’s eyes. If you want to try something new or don’t have a sparkly gown at the ready, we can explore Rent the Runway . It’s a great option to have access to pieces that you might not need on a day-to-day basis.
Trust that we’ll curate a session filled with looks that make you look and feel your very best!
I sure do! And I highly recommend it! The artists that I work with are trained professionals. They use top of the line products and practice good hygiene techniques. They also know how to prepare your look for the camera. What I love is that it takes the pressure off of my client. I want you arriving at your session without a worry. You will be totally taken care of and pampered. *ADDITIONAL FEE REQUIRED
There are a few ways that you can prepare for your session:
- I will help you with regards to your wardrobe. At your Concept & Style Consultation, we’ll plan out your desired looks. This is a huge item checked off of of your to-do list!
- Be sure you have the proper undergarments if your clothing has specific lines. Nude/ skin colored pieces work best. We’ll be sure to discuss beforehand.
- Drink lots of water.
- Get plenty of sleep.
- Breathe. I promise this will be one of the greatest experiences! We’ll share a lot of laughs and you’re going to feel empowered. It’s definitely a treat & I’m so excited for you!
Yourself. Truly. Bring yourself and any wardrobe selections we talked about at your Concept & Style Consultation. I’ll have some refreshments available to quench your thirst & tame your tummy. If you’ve opted for hair & makeup artistry, my hair and make-up artist will have all of the necessary supplies to beautify you. Relax and enjoy.
You’re welcome to bring anyone that you wish to be photographed with. This can include family members, friends, and even fur babies! With significant others and little ones, I recommend bringing them in near the end of the session. Everyone seems to be happier with this arrangement.
If you’re asking to bring someone as a spectator, I would advise against it. We’re often a little insecure & vulnerable when in the spotlight (in front of the camera). Even the most well-meaning of friends could say something that might not allow you to fully blossom during your session. And that’s my goal within your shoot…to provide you the space and grace for your to blossom into the beauty that you are. I hope that you can appreciate my hesitation.
An exception is made regarding minors.
Of course! As long as I have permission to photograph at the location you desire, I am open to shooting there. Some public locations require a single-use permit, so we’ll have to plan with enough notice to work out the paperwork. Along with outdoor spaces, I am open to shooting at your home or business…indoor or out. My studio, located in Downtown Ocala, is always available.
Your answer depends on what kind of session you’re scheduled for. If you’re attending one of my quarterly Headshot Events, plan for 60 minutes.* A portrait session with up to 5 styled looks can last 2-3 hours.* My goal is to bring you to a place of comfort in order to capture you naturally. Some clients come by it easier than others. It isn’t a contest though and I will always take the time so that we’re both satisfied with the session.
*If utilizing hair and make-up artistry, add 1-1.5 hours depending on length of hair.
At the end of your portrait session, we’ll schedule your Ordering Appointment – typically within 1-2 weeks. It’s at this time that you’ll have the opportunity to consider and select which images that you can’t live without. The chosen images will be available in a printed format (matted desktop prints, wall art, or album) as well as the digital version. Some clients chose 2 of their very favorite portraits to be enjoyed as matted desktop prints & some chose multiple wall art displays to be enjoyed throughout their home along with a beautiful album. There’s something for everyone! Expect 6-8 weeks for the delivery of printed products.
I sure do! I will say that a large part of my mission is to provide my clients with PRINTED legacy portraits. More people own cameras than ever before and we’re photographed more than ever. What happens to the photos that everyone takes with their cell phones? I know they’re sometimes shared on social media, but they certainly aren’t printed and that pulls at my heart. My solution is to provide a digital file and a matted desktop print of each purchased image! Whether you choose a Folio Box with matted prints, gorgeous Wall Art, or even a beautiful custom designed Album, you will receive the corresponding digital images.
Yes, Personal Branding. It’s a term that applies to business professionals that are marketing themselves and their careers as brands. In other words, these professionals are the face of their business and require more than the standard headshot. Clients include small business owners, solo-preneurs, bloggers, etc… Their photos are utilized on websites, newsletters, billboards, book covers, & various social media platforms. The style is sometimes more relaxed and might falls into the “lifestyle” genre of photography. The resulting photographs will help to tell their story and build trust with their audience. As consumers, we like to feel that kind of connection.
Weddings are beautiful and make for stunning photographs, but I prefer to concentrate on my portrait work. I am happy to refer you to some super talented local photographers.
Sure thing! We’re pretty lucky here in Central Florida with it’s varied landscape of farms, beautiful parks, forest land, and a quaint downtown, but I’m always happy to explore new turf! Want to travel out of state…or even out of the country? Let’s make a plan and create the session of your dreams!
