365 Day Project | Day 6 | Ocala Photographer

Yes, it’s another shot of my son, Nicholas. I promise not to populate my blog with photos of my kids, but they’re usually ready, willing and able to help. And I’m a little partial!

I decided to challenge myself with shooting in midday sun. It’s not the preferred time of day to shoot as the sun and its shadows can be quite harsh. In contrast, my New Year’s photo of the boys was taken at the golden hour (the hour or 2 before sunset) and that’s when I typically like to shoot. Back to the photo of the day, I worked with the sun allowing it to be part of the finished product. The upper left portion of the image is blown out, but that is what I was going for shooing into the sun. I could have tried a reflector to bounce some light on his face. Next time. A little warm filter goodness in post processing and I think it makes for a pretty sweet photo.
