Kings of the Mountain!
Yup, kings of the big ol’ dirt hill. Though it’s nearly a mountain at 6-7 feet high. These boys were in their glory. Dad was scooping up dirt with the loader and dumping it on this already formed hill. As soon as the fresh stuff was dumped they would test it out by standing on top of it, jumping down from it or just squirming themselves into it…you know, like worms do.
What’s funny to me is that this wasn’t the dirtiest they got. How, you say? Bring on the hose. Mud. They had their toy trucks and tractors and were laying on the ground. Making roads. Driving through puddles. Loading up trucks with dirt. Organizing a construction site. They were having the best time. And playing so well together.
I found this definition online: “boy (n): a noise with dirt on it.” Sums up my kiddos at play. And I don’t know that I would want it any other way.
